Well for many years I have seen people leave posts on this page about how gratefull they are to this feast and what it means to them. So I guess this year is as good as any for me to leave mine. So I want to thank everyone involved with the feast for this past year in remembering my father Richard L. Burg for his lifetime dedication to this feast. My father held almost any position the feast needed and never complained 1 minute on what needed to be done. I am very proud to follow in his footsteps and continue the tradition of supporting our church and feast. We all have great memories of what happens at the feast but mine will be my fathers final days when he was given his greatest honor of Honorary Capo. Nothing meant more to him to just be recgonized for a lifetime of his dedication. I am so honored to be part of such a wonderfull organization that associates myself with some of the greatest, dedicated, and hardworking people that help put on such a wonderfull event. As we approach another year I am reminded of something my father would say at this time "We have a feast to get ready for" Without all of us doing our part and dedicating our time, we are the ones that make this the greatest feast in the world!!! May Our Lady of Mount Carmel pray for us all that dedicate our time and put on such an amazing feast. Never forget its not one person that puts on this feast its all of us working together that makes this great. Together we keep our tradition alive and going for the future!

I have never seen such devotion to this feast, it is a wonderful thing. The best part is look at the faces of the men uner the giglio, they are the same faces every year. They just do not have the same color shirt on,it changes every year, and it should. No doubt the best feast around, and I come from 106th street, where they used to make this feast, and dance the Giglio on Labor Day. THANKS FOR THE MEMORY ITS GREAT>

I remember working here as a teenager 1969-70 for my Grandparents at their stand called Coney Island Joes Zeppoles and Calzones I went back in 2009 with my wife and things looked somewhat the same. I would like to see the feast continue on for the next 50myears.

While reading all the beautiful posts that have been sent in by so many tried and true OLMC feast supporters I felt that it was necessary to address something that I hold very dear to my heart. Just about every Saturday morning for approximately one full year there is a group of men and boys that meet down the basement of the gym to "redress" the Giglio for the next year. These men and boys do this out of their devotion to the feast and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. They leave their families to spend countless hours down that basement. They don't ask for anything in return. I would like to say to all of them here in this forum...THANK YOU for year after year making sure that the feast of Our Lady of Mt.Carmel and San Paolino di Nola has the most beautiful Giglio that anyone can ask for. Thank you for showing us what real devotion is and for allowing us to share in your spirit of true team work.

Take something you love, tell people about it, bring together people who share your love, and help make it better. Ultimately, you'll have more of whatever you love for yourself and the world. -Julius Schwartz How true that is! Looking forward to the 125th Annual Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel & San Paolino diNola. Thank You!

Congratulations and thank you for another sucessful feast and for keeping this tradition going strong. I look forward to it every year but unfortunately was unable to attend this year. I would be interested in purchasing this years feast T-shirt if they are still available. Thanks and keep up the good work!

It was wonderful to be back up for the Feast and in the old neighborhood again...especially Conselyea St., where I grew up. Great spending time with OLMC classmates, some former neighbors and reuniting with friends I haven't seen in way too many years. Just wish my brother, James Lapolla, was still here to have enjoyed the day with us. (Thanks to all his old friends I ran into who expressed such sincere love and sympathy.) Especially enjoyed the SRO 11:00 Mass on Giglio Sunday -- felt like I was in New Orleans! -- my first time ever attending this Mass, and really a wonderful experience. Will always consider OLMC my church, parish and feast, though I've lived in Florida now almost as many yrs. as I lived in NY. Mt. Carmel and Williamsburg roots just have a way of calling us home, from time to time. I'm so proud of where I come from, and being back up last weekend just cofirmed that all the more for me. (Would love to hear from other old schoolmates who graduated from OLMC anytime around '68.)

This feast means a little more to me than some others. 1 yr ago my father's funeral mass was held in this beautiful church. He was a cop in the 94th pct, right in the middle of the parish. Every year he would watch over the feast as the highway safety officer. My husband and I were married 3 years ago and the first year we came to the feast he just wanted to show me his old neighborhood. Now we come back every year and make sure we see the dance. But the other thing I look foward to the most is the zeppoles, bracciole sandwiches and the comradery of the italians.
